low lighting power density, daylight sensors in guest rooms and occupancy sensors in common areas have reduced lighting energy use significantly without compromising on space quality. insulated concrete walls and over deck insulation increase the thermal performance of the building. the project has achieved 22% improvement over baseline building energy use by using efficient air cooled screw chillers, natural gas boilers and heat recovery equipment for tfa’s, gym, lobby and restaurant units. co sensor based parking ventilation system reduces the load on ventilation system. 55% of hot water demand is met by solar water heating system, which further reduces natural gas consumption. to improve the indoor environment quality, 75% of occupied spaces have access to daylight and 99% have views of the exterior.
snf corporate office, noida" has been been awarded the platinum certification under the leed commercial interior rating system. the lighting power density of the project is reduced by 43%. also, integrated daylight & occupancy controls in regularly occupied spaces helped in achieving major energy saving.
suzlon one earth, group global headquarters of suzlon, at pune is a 8,16,175 square feet, griha five star rated an leed platinum certified building. there is a 47% lighting energy use reduction and 65% energy use reduction. 75% of the waste is recycled. optimal orientation, high performance glazing and shading devices help to minimize solar heat gain through the envelope, while maximizing daylight penetration - about 75% of spaces receive daylight. white ceramic tiles, with solar reflectance index of 90, and over deck insulation further reduce envelope heat gain. low flow faucets, touchless urinals with hytronic sensors, dual flush toilets have increased efficient use of water. recycled water generated in the onsite sewage treatment plant is used for irrigation and cooling tower makeup water. low interior lighting density (<.8 w/sq.ft.) coupled with occupancy and daylight sensors has reduced lighting energy consumption. hvac energy consumption has been reduced by direct-indirect evaporative cooling, pre-cooling, heat recovery along with equipment efficiencies that exceed ashrae standard. onsite renewable energy system, consisting of 17 wind mills and 234 solar panels, produces about 6% of the energy used at site. materials with high recycle content (rerolled reinforcement steel, fly ash bricks, and high recycled carpet contents), produced/extracted locally and from rapidly renewable resources have been used extensively in the project to reduce environmental impact due to transportation, extraction and processing. to improve indoor environmental quality, ventilation rates have been increased by 30% above ashrae standards; co2 sensors in densely occupied spaces and work areas, and low emitting materials have also been used. task lighting, open able window panels for thermal control, remote controls for all vrv units, and 3m mats to prevent dust penetration also add to comfortable interior spaces. alternative transportation system, along with carpooling systems reduces vehicular emissions.
t3 terminal, with a total floor area of 7 million square feet, is a part of the modernization and expansion plan at the indira gandhi international airport, new delhi and designed to be a national model of occupant and environment friendly buildings. it is the largest leed gold nc certified airport terminal building in the world. interior finishes of the terminal include materials with a high recycled content – fly ash blocks, and low voc paints, sealants and adhesives. metro transport system access, a car pool program for employees, electric/cng vehicles, charging facilities for visitors and energy efficient passenger conveyance systems (escalators, elevators, travelators) mitigate the impact of a high volume of passenger and resultant vehicular traffic. daylight is a special focus of the terminal design – striking a careful balance between the benefits of exterior light and undesirable glare. daylight sensors coupled with energy efficient lighting fixtures reduce electricity consumption. star rated electrical systems have been selected. about 1200 energy efficient lcd screens have been used for the public information system. water consumption has been reduced to the minimum by using low flow fixtures and rain water harvesting; 100% of the recycled water is used on the facility for irrigation and air conditioning. cfc free refrigerants and fire fighting systems with zero global warming potential used at the facility ensure that the operational footprint is diminished. 1.7 million square feet of landscaping at the site offsets the extensive tarmac covered area.
tcs siruseri technopark, with a built up area of 5.2 million square feet, has been designed to optimize energy, water and natural resources use on the site, provide healthy indoor spaces and improve the microclimate. building envelope includes high performance double glazed glass, rooftop shading fins and sun louvers to reduce solar transmission and increase daylight transmission. an efficient cooling system including energy efficient water cooled centrifugal ht chillers and blowers with aerofoil blades, vfd drives, demand control ventilation for basement, heat recovery wheels with co2 monitors, vav and thermo-diffusers, precision ac with ec fans ensures minimal energy consumption. water conservation efforts include rain water storage pond that improves the micro climate and provides back up water storage of 3 months. native plants irrigated through drip irrigation system further reduce water consumption. recycled water generated at onsite sewage treatment plant and ro system is used for landscape irrigation and ac plant. a grid integrated solar power plant rated for 315 kw and bio digester rated for generation of 60kw power from 4 tonnes of kitchen waste are under implementation. lighting energy consumption has been optimized through efficient lighting fixtures (led, low wattage t-5 and cfl lamps) with lighting controls (movement sensors, day light sensors, dimmers and timers). distribution losses in the electrical system have been reduced through high efficiency transformers, 11kv distribution cabling, sandwich type rising mains, igbt technology ups. eco friendly materials used include fsc certified wood products, eco friendly refrigerants, locally available materials with high recycled content and low voc interior finishes.
